Mechanism of Action: Sulfamonomethoxine sodium is a sulfonamide drug that competitively inhibits the synthesis of dihydrofolic acid by dihydrofolate synthase, ultimately blocking the synthesis of nucleic acids and preventing bacterial growth and reproduction. Methoxybenzene pyrimidine also inhibits dihydrofolate reductase, which prevents dihydrofolic acid from being reduced to tetrahydrofolic acid, thus interfering with bacterial nucleic acid synthesis. The combination of sulfamonomethoxine sodium and methoxybenzene pyrimidine can block folate metabolism in a dual way, resulting in a synergistic antibacterial effect.
